Plaza Medical Center’s Learning Institute is a valuable resource to nurse-employees seeking educational and professional advancement.
Programs available through the Learning Institute for which nurses can be reimbursed for their tuition, include:
School at Work (SAW)
Program - 8 months
- Introduction to healthcare
- Rapid review of essential basics necessary for success
- Becoming a Healthcare Professional
- Intro to medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, medical ethics, organizational skills, and communication
Certification Programs
5 months
- Patient-Care Technician
- Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA)
- EKG Monitor Technician
- Phlebotomy
- Classes held in the evening and/or Saturdays
- Eligible to sit national certification exam for CNA, EKG & Phlebotomy after program completion
- Classes and clinicals held at Plaza Medical Center
- Program offered by The University of Texas at Arlington Continuing Education Department
LVN to RN Program
10 months
- Hill College - 10-month program
- Must be licensed as an LVN
- Admissions in June
- Application deadline: March 1
- All prerequisite courses must be completed by application deadline
- Clinicals at Plaza Medical Center
Associate Degree Nursing Program
2 years
- Tarrant County College
- Admissions in fall semester of each year
- Application deadline: February 28
- Must complete Math, Chemistry, and A&P I before applying
- Classes and clinicals at Plaza Medical Center
RN to BSN Program
1 year
- The University of Texas at Arlington
- Classes held one day a week at Plaza Medical Center
- Admissions in Spring semester of each year
- Application deadline: September 1
- Some prerequisites must be completed before program start date
BSN-to-MSN and MSN-to-PhD Programs are also available through the Learning Institute.
