Plaza’s Chief Nursing Officer
Here at Plaza Medical Center, we nurses are on a mission. The Nursing Department has embarked on a journey that we hope will culminate in “Magnet” recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center sometime in 2009.
Already we hold the ANCC’s coveted ‘Pathway to Excellence’ designation. This honor signifies that our policies and culture have been found to embody one dozen characteristics considered essential to the maintenance of an ideal practice environment for nursing.
As Plaza’s Magnet journey continues, results keep trending upward on all manner of quantitative and qualitative measurements of nursing performance.
Our patient, employee, and physician satisfaction scores are the envy of the nearly 200 other U.S. hospitals owned and operated by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the world’s largest hospital company. Our accomplishments carrying out core measures earned us a Quality Improvement Award of Excellence from the Texas Medical Foundation. And our conspicuous success in promoting organ and tissue donation recently won us the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services’ prestigious “Medal of Honor.”
One of the goals we’ve set for ourselves is to increase the overall percentage of nurses at Plaza who are nationally certified in their areas of specialty. The “Tree of Certifications” that serves as the symbol of this quest already bears more than 100 names, and we know that its leafy canopy will continue to spread as Plaza’s nurses grow in knowledge and skill.
This is indeed an exciting time to be a nurse at Plaza Medical Center. If you’re an experienced patient-care professional and want to be proud of where you work, why not consider joining us?
