Plaza Medical Center is a participant in the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), which is sponsored by the American Nurses Association. Plaza’s involvement in the project enables it to compare its outcomes for several important quality indicators to those for similar hospitals across the nation.
Currently, the hospital reports its data on the occurrence of falls and any associated injuries, wound occurrence, nursing hours per patient day, skill mix, and RN education and certifications. Data are submitted on a quarterly basis and are categorized by unit type: Medical, Surgical, combined Med/Surg, Critical Care and PCU.
These results are also reported to each unit’s representative on the Nursing Quality Council, to be shared as part of the unit’s quarterly “report card.”
