Magnet Recognition
Hospitals with Magnet status have improved nurse-to-patient ratios, health outcomes and patient satisfaction. Plaza will find out in 2009 if it is recognized as a Magnet hospital.
learn more »Research is promoted as a standard part of nursing practice at Plaza Medical Center. There is an increasing emphasis within Plaza’s Nursing Department on using research as a basis for both clinical and administrative decision-making.
Advocating for the important role of research at the hospital are the Plaza Research Advisory Team (PRAT) and the Evidence-Based Practice Council, two components of the Nursing Department’s shared decision-making council structure.
Plaza has a very active performance-improvement program in which nurses become involved in the review of nursing practice and the collection and analysis of clinical data. Performance improvement often serves as a bridge to full-fledged nursing research. Staff RNs are encouraged to participate in planning and implementing practice changes based on the research they perform.
